From gut feeling to facts

At Mølholm Pig Production, Brian Nielsen manages a herd of 970 sows and sells 30-kg pigs for export.
For Brian, knowledge and data have become a natural part of daily operations. That’s why, in early 2023, he invested in AutoPig® – a tool that provides insight into growth, feed, and behaviour without disturbing the pigs.

“We bought AutoPig to test our feed mixes against each other,” Brian explains. “It’s allowed us to see exactly how each mix performs – and to change in time when something isn’t delivering as it should.”

The data continuously recorded by AutoPig® is now an integrated part of the decision-making process in the barn.
“We record feed changes, treatments, and events such as deaths or relocations directly in the system. That way, we can always look back and identify links between changes and results,” Brian says.

The collaboration between Mølholm Pig Production and Agrisys began in 2015, when Brian built a new farrowing unit and installed AirSys.
Since then, several solutions have been added – including transponder feeding and, most recently, AutoPig®.

“We’ve worked with Agrisys for almost ten years, and it’s been a really good partnership all the way through.
They understand our daily reality and develop solutions that make sense in practice,” he says.

For Brian, AutoPig® is ultimately about using data to improve every day:
“You constantly have to push the limit for when it’s the right time to change or adjust. AutoPig helps us make those decisions on an informed basis.”
